Closed Course Drone Training
Instructor-led training for enterprise drone programmes
What Is Closed Course Drone Training?
heliguy™ closed courses offer industry-specific training to large businesses and .gov organisations with a requirement to train multiple pilots.
These personalised sessions grant you exclusive access to our expert training team, delivered at a venue of your choice.
They bring your pilots and our full-time instructors together for a package of intensive in-person flight training, built around the UK CAA GVC syllabus, but tailored to your organisation and preferred drone solution.
heliguy™ delivered 82 closed courses across the UK in 2023.
What Are The Benefits Of Closed Course Training?
heliguy™ closed course training helps your organisation establish a foundation of governance and pilot proficiency and develop best practice principles based on the highest levels of competency, safety, and compliance.
Personalised Learning Experience: Instructor-led tuition provides you with a dedicated, personalised, and face-to-face learning experience with our full-time instructors, who are immersed in the delivery of complex training throughout the UK every day.
Master Operation-specific Hardware: We can supply your preferred hardware, meaning you can complete training first and procure the equipment later after verifying the technology. This helps your pilots build flight capability in parallel to the CAA critical elements and become experts on the specific aircraft and sensors you plan to deploy in the real-world.
Human Factors & Risk Management: Human error is a significant factor leading to aviation accidents. Leverage the experience of our instructors and train on your preferred hardware to establish clear protocols and standardised procedures to improve safey standards, including fatigue and stress management, pre-flight checks, and situational awareness.
Where Are Closed Courses Delivered?
Closed courses are delivered at a location of your choice, bringing your nominated pilots together for standardised learning.
This removes the logistical burden and staffing complexities of coordinating self-guided or cross-site training.
heliguy™ closed courses ensure candidates complete the training syllabus and become mission-ready at the same time.
What Do Closed Courses Involve?
Delivered over three-to-five days, closed courses are a fast-track solution to completing the mandatory GVC course and readying pilots for operational deployment.
The GVC comprises:
Theory learning, then 40-question multiple-choice examination.
Operations Manual.
Practical flight assessment.
heliguy™ closed courses comprise practical training and the mandatory UK CAA practical assessments.
Candidates can complete their theory learning online before the course, via the heliguy™ Learning Management System. This virtual classroom enables candidates to learn at their own pace and access live support from heliguy™ instructors.
The theory exam can also be sat remotely before the course via web cam.
Alternatively, candidates can complete their theory learning and exam in-person: Delivered over an additional two days of instructor-led theory training.
The Operations Manual should be completed before the course, as this helps us tailor the training to your needs. This documentation can be completed using our streamlined creation service - identified as meeting the highest industry standards by IQ Verify.
heliguy™ Drone Training Centre
heliguy™ has a purpose-built drone training centre, complete with dedicated classroom space and offices for our in-house instructors.
Future developments include the addition of a training simulator.
The refurbished facility, located at heliguy™ HQ, can be used by candidates wanting to complete their theory learning, and can also provide a base for pilots conducting practical training or flight assessments at the nearby flight field.
